Director Pandiraj’s latest project, Thalaivan Thalaivii, debuted in cinemas on July 25 and has received a varied viewer response. The drama features Vijay Sethupathi as Agasaveeran and Nithya Menen as Perarasi, a couple navigating relationship strains after marriage.
Thalaivan Thalaivii grossed over Rs 25 crore within the first three days in Tamil Nadu. Production house Sathya Jyothi Films has confirmed strong ticket sales, though final tallies are pending. Industry insiders report that Amazon Prime Video has secured the film’s post-theatrical digital rights. A formal announcement from the makers is expected soon. This marks Sethupathi’s 52nd leading role.
During promotional events, Pandiraj revealed a past disagreement with Sethupathi: “We had a major argument and I swore off working together.” Sethupathi acknowledged the rift, saying he shared similar sentiments at the time. Despite early friction, the director-actor duo reunited for Thalaivan Thalaivii.
The plot follows Agasaveeran and Perarasi, culinary enthusiasts whose bond weakens after marriage. Yogi Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, RK Suresh, Mynaa Nandhini, Deepa, Roshini Haripriyan and Sendrayan appear in pivotal roles.
M Sukumar handles cinematography, Santhosh Narayanan provides the score, and Pradeep E Ragav oversees editing. The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the Sathya Jyothi Films banner.
With theatrical runs still underway, viewers can expect Thalaivan Thalaivii to arrive on Amazon Prime Video in early September, pending official confirmation.
